Without doubt, 2017 was by far the most exciting year I have ever had as a wedding photographer. My couples where a dream come true, elegant, warm, genuine and so much fun to be with. All of whom had relaxed and intimate weddings that were the kind of days that were just a pure delight to be a part of. Last year my work took me, for the first time to the glorious South of France as I prepare to relocate there full time in April. Since I started this wonderful journey as a photographer, the dream was always to be a wedding photographer in Provence, the French Riviera and Northern Italy. And in 2017, my dreams came true.
So much changed for me as a photographer in 2017. I finally got comfortable in my skin and I let my eye and heart take the images more than I ever have done. I stopped worrying about what was “trendy” or “cool” or what other photographers were doing and stripped everything back to the principles that made me want to take pictures in the first place. To capture the moments in front of me in an honest, intimate and iconic way. I started to realise that as on trend as it may be, faux forced fun just isn’t my style. For me and my couples, introducing props and directing unrealistic moments just isn’t right, the photographers I look up to, Cartier Bresson, Cecil Beaton, Irving Penn, they capture real moments and create sentimental, cinematic and iconic images. And that is what I believe I achieved in 2017 and I can’t wait to really dive deeper into this year and beyond.
There really were just too many moments (I call my images moments which is a little pretentious but I think a better description) to share them all, but if I can borrow a moment of your time I have shared some below for you, and if you would like to see more, you can view the full gallery HERE!
Of course, this doesn’t even begin to cover any of my personal highlights, including my own wedding, but I think we will save all of that for another day….. Claire xoxo
